All about me…..!
Ok, my name is Debbie and I’m definitely over 40; my plan for this blog is to document my quest to improve my health and fitness and my attempts to get shredded in 2012. I am so fed up of seeing blogs and websites extolling the virtue of training for MEN or possibly for women (provided they are under 30 and blonde!) so this is my quest to prove that you CAN have a perfect body at any age. All it takes is commitment and determination and a bit of thick skin to ignore all nay-sayers who think your life should finish once you hit 40!
I started all of this in February 2011 probably 3 stone (42lb) overweight, tired, irritable and incredibly unhealthy. My asthma was unstable to say the least, when I walked any distance I needed to use my inhaler; I was always ill with colds, chest infections and then, despite procrastinating many times I finally plucked up the courage and went along to my local gym.
And so began the best, most rewarding journey of my entire life. I sit here in January 2012 having lost about two and half stone (35lbs) fitter, stronger and healthier than I have ever been in my whole life. My abs are beginning to appear (I can’t say reappear cos I don’t ever remember seeing them in the past!), I can see the start of muscle definition and every month I seem to find another batch of clothes or underwear that no longer fits me!
Along the way I have discovered a real passion for fitness, nutrition and healthy living and last November I put that to good use by passing my ACSM CPT course – from no interest in fitness to passing my CPT first go is something I am very proud of. 2012 will bring more courses as I want to take the advanced training course and in May I will study with Richard Bandler for my NLP Practitioner Course – hopefully by the end of the year I will have all of my courses under my belt and will be seeing my own clients, specialising I hope, in understanding motivational issues, goal setting and weight loss.
This is my 2012 journey of academic study, fitness courses, NLP practice all underpinned by my goal to be completely beach body ready or shredded (as we are now calling it!!) by the end of the year. My quest is to prove that age really is no barrier to getting the body you want, you need focus, commitment and determination so,……here goes!

I think this is a wonderful thing you are doing! You seem very focused on your goal and I’ve no doubt you’ll achieve it. Keep up the good work…
One more thing, Would you maybe write up a post on your diet, in summary, basically want you really shouldn’t eat, what you should, so on? Thanks!
